You Turned Her Struggle into Joy

Sweet Mary Joy struggled to grow. She was 3 years old and weighed only 17.6 pounds, more than 10 pounds below what a 3-year-old normally weighs.

​​Her parents lived in a small mountainous community in the Philippines. Mary Joy’s father had a difficult time finding work, so they often didn’t have enough money to buy food.

Mary Joy had been severely malnourished when she was a baby. This chronic lack of nutrition caused her to be weak and sick all the time. Mary Joy stopped feeling hungry. She didn’t want to eat.

In the midst of their hopelessness, FMSC food arrived. Through our partnership with International Care Ministries, the MannaPack™ Rice meals you packed reached Mary Joy’s grateful family.

Her mother didn’t give up. She fed her daughter little spoonsful of FMSC food until Mary Joy slowly began to eat. Little by little, she gained back her appetite.​
